Administrative Structure

Gatanga operates under Kenya’s devolved governance framework, blending national and county administration. The constituency’s affairs are managed by two parallel structures: the MP-led National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) committee, which oversees infrastructure projects like schools and health facilities, and the Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), who coordinates security and national government services . The MP heads the NG-CDF board, while the DCC reports to Murang’a County Commissioner. Murang’a County Government maintains sectoral officers (e.g., agriculture, health) in Gatanga, implementing county policies and programs. The three electoral wards each elect a Member of County Assembly (MCA) to the Murang’a County Assembly, where they legislate on county matters .
